Although we are all enjoying the fun-filled summer, it’s never too early to begin preparing your child for their first big adventure: Kindergarten! Bus rides, back packs, lunch rooms, recess; all of this brings much excitement and often, some anxieties as well.
There are a few key items mom and dad can work on during the summer to help ease any anxieties your child may be experiencing. And don’t forget…. parents need to find ways to deal with their own emotions which can easily contribute to your child’s worries.
Keeping children involved in back-to-school shopping, school tours and having an open-door for communication are effective first steps. Kindergarten is the official start to your child’s academic future and together your family can make it a great year!
A more detailed list of ideas and strategies can be found on the School Family website.
